Hundreds of bow arrows dropped the frame rate. Energy bolts stuck in a block now fizzle out after 1.5 s with a few sparks, arrows past 14 blocks use a 24-face stand-in of the same shape, and the energy sheath is an unsorted additive glow. |

Draconic Next
Draconic Next is an unofficial, independent reimagining of Draconic Evolution (originally created by brandon3055) for Minecraft 26.2 on NeoForge and Fabric. It keeps the spirit of the original: powerful tools, items, weapons and armor built around the enigmatic ore Draconium, from simple machines and items up to the near-mystical Awakened Draconium gear.
Draconic Next is not an official Draconic Evolution release and is not affiliated with or endorsed by brandon3055. See CREDITS.md.
Status
Early alpha. Expect missing features, unverified behavior and breaking changes between builds. Worlds made with earlier builds, or with the original mod, are not guaranteed to load, and old worlds are not converted.
The mod ID is draconicnext and the Java packages live under net.solarspire.draconicnext.
Building
The build targets NeoForge and Fabric, using a Java-only replaceable core (core, behind the interfaces in api) and one shared Minecraft implementation (common). JDK 25 is required; point JAVA_HOME at it, then:
./gradlew build
./gradlew :neoforge:runSmokeServer
./gradlew :neoforge:runPackagedServer :neoforge:runPackagedClient :fabric:runProductionWorldTest -Pnative_energy
Loader jars and source jars are written to neoforge/build/libs and fabric/build/libs (named Draconic-Next-neoforge-<version>.jar and Draconic-Next-fabric-<version>.jar). Install the jar for the chosen loader. Fabric API is required on Fabric; Team Reborn Energy is optional and enables interoperability with other energy mods.
runSmokeServer creates its own development world under neoforge/build/smoke-server, binds localhost on port 25585, runs checks, and stops. runPackagedServer exercises the NeoForge mod jar on port 25586. runPackagedClient and runProductionWorldTest launch NeoForge/Fabric jars in isolated integrated worlds, check native screens and rendering, and execute real interaction packets. -Pnative_energy includes the optional Team Reborn Energy bridge during Fabric checks. Tests are excluded from production jars and normal development runs. :neoforge:runClient, :neoforge:runServer, :fabric:runClient and :fabric:runServer launch ordinary development sessions.
Another core implementation can be built with -Pcore_directory=<provider project directory>. The provider implements CoreFactory, publishes its Java service descriptor, and preserves the API state schemas.
